As I drive to work this week I am met at every corner with glorious, bright fuchia dressed bushes to brighten my day. Trees drooping with vivid oranges and bright lemons finish the colorful dressing of a Phoenix spring. Fragrance of lemons, oranges and spring flowers, that don’t appear in the Midwest and Eastern states where I’m from until about May, fill the air with calming, soothing aromas just before I pull into the parking garage filled with the fumes of gas and rubber to start another day on the job. Throughout the day I will bring back visions and memories of the brightness and fragrance I remembered on my drive in to work to bring me peace through the rest of the day.

The beautiful state of Phoenix
March 13, 2008 · Leave a Comment
As you all know from my introduction post, I moved to Phoenix, AZ from Detroit, MI May of 2007, closing in on a year now. I’ve made it through the heat of the summer here, OMG, does it get hot, but it’s so much nicer than MI what with all the humidity there, anyhow, made it through summer, then Monsoon, yes, it’s a season here, then winter, which is FANTASTIC, the coldest it got during the day was mid to high 40’s, and that was only a few times, most of the time it was in the 50’s and 60’s, now it’s spring here, the few trees that lose their leaves are now sprouting new ones, grass is green and fragrant, mountains are green too, which I had no idea happened and the air is fragrant with lots of new floral growth.
Not only is the weather great but there’s so much to see and do here, the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff if I need snow, Tombstone, Navajo Nation, and so many different mountain and rock formations in reds, greens and browns, it’s sometime just too beautiful to stand, and damned if I don’t live here.
I’ll be writing more about this beautiful state as I check more out.
Stay tuned.

Ok, gotta complain, I love animals, I TRULY do, I’ve had many different pets over the years, birds, dogs, cats, hampsters, and now Guinea Pigs, but when living in a apartment, people need to keep their pets under control. There are two hound dogs in my building, one is too large for an apartment, but both are constantly barking and howling when their owners are gone. Please don’t keep large dogs in a small apartment, they need to have a large yard to run and not bother all their neighbors.
Yes, they are barking now and all I want is peace and quiet.
Ok, off my soap box.

No writing done today, but did get to work with the Create a Plot clinic again, which, as I mentioned in a previous post, has really gotten me excited about writing and given me SO much inspiration and help in getting started on my novel. I did finish the first draft of the first chapter and get my notes for my 2nd chapter in order so I may get going on that one soon. But this was a few days ago.
My 2nd, maybe 3 chapter will find a horse in the mix, now I do know something about horses as I absolutely loved them as a child and read about them as much as possible, but that was many moons ago and I wasn’t writing about them, so, I’m going to be reading Holly Lisle’s, The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make about Horses, and hopefully, I won’t make them.

Give credit where credit is due.

As mentioned in my previous two posts, I credit my new enthusiasm for writing to Holly Lisle and one of her many writing clinics. The link below is to her fastest selling clinic, Create a Plot Clinic, and thankfully the one I started with. Reading her input, her experience and stories relating to writing plot and doing the exercises she supplies has give me the love to write again. I’ve taken many writing classes, online, through college and through books, but nothing has been as much fun and has creative juice flowing as Holly’s clinics have. She writes great novels too.
Click the link below to read about and order the Create A Plot Clinic, you’ll be glad you did.

Writing again
March 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment
It’s been a long time since I was excited about writing, or did much writing for that matter, but since I found Holly Lisle’s website and all her fantastic courses, I’ve been writing, plotting and loving every minute of it. Writing is now a please, not a chore. I so look forward to sitting at my desk, bringing up the Create a Plot Clinic, Liquid Story Binder and start plotting. Can’t wait to get into the rest of her Clinics and workshops and get this story moving.
This is the link to Holly’s site, click it and enter a world of words for both writers and readers.
